So, whats the news from the Dave Rice front? Is he staying? Is he going? If he's staying, what kind of demands did Tina give into to keep Rice on board?

It looks like its pretty much 100% that Rice is staying at UNLV. Although, it's still to be determined what he got in return. Guess we'll find out soon.

I bet he didn't get all he wanted because I doubt he was really offered from South Florida. You need to officially invite Rebel Robert to the board.

Nope I am to. I know we would of lost recruits but it would at least got us another chance to be competitive. I just don't think he could get it done.

Losing those 3 recruits and possibly a couple other players would set the program back at least 3-5 years.

Well that is the problem with the extension. There was no way he was going to USF.

Its harsh, I know... but needs to be done for the sake of the program.

I would not get too worked about the extension. We could always make him an assist AD to fill out the balance of his contract. Or we could get him to force resign (not too unlikely IMO; he always wants to do what's in the best interest of the program).

Rice validated my suspitions that he can't teach/coach and unlike many fans I don't believe he will improve much given more time but he is a real enigma when it comes to the way he recruits. I know he discovered how to play the recruiting game and made contacts over the years but what kind of BS is he telling the players one on one. I have nothing personal against him and I am not a zealot of Theus all I want is for UNLV to hire the right coach and for the program to be great again.

I agree that Rice is a really nice guy. Unfortunately he just cannot coach. People think I'm just a Rice basher but I just want whats best for UNLV
