Rice validated my suspitions that he can't teach/coach and unlike many fans I don't believe he will improve much given more time but he is a real enigma when it comes to the way he recruits. I know he discovered how to play the recruiting game and made contacts over the years but what kind of BS is he telling the players one on one. I have nothing personal against him and I am not a zealot of Theus all I want is for UNLV to hire the right coach and for the program to be great again. The same BS he told fans about full court pressing the full game. |

Horrible article. It's two words: accepting mediocrity I did not think CDR was seriously leaving. Next year is make or break for Rice. If we don't make the NCAA, he needs to go. I'm borderline on retaining him for 2014-15 There's no excuse to not win a game. We have all the peices to the puzzle if Doolin get's his waiver. Here's a depth chart assuming Rosce leaves: PG: Doolin/Cook/Walker/Rushman SG: Vaughn/Kendrick SF: Morgan/[insert some Juco transfer] PF: Goodluck/Wood C: Birch/Morant Feel free to call me crazy, but I'm hoping both the Smith's redshirt. We'd lose most our team after 2014-15, so might as well have Rice/Theus/Menzies/whose ever ever coach here a few players to work with. |

CDR never had an offer there was just interest. I live in Tampa and made a few calls. Our athletic department is so stupid.

I bet he didn't get all he wanted because I doubt he was really offered from South Florida. You need to officially invite Rebel Robert to the board. Everybody is welcome! Even Rebel Robert. I'm excited for next year if the team gels we will be very tough to beat. I think rice will have a great year.

I'm skeptical of Rice as a HC, but i'll give him one more year to prove his worth. We need to see a vast improvement not only in style play, but also in basketball IQ. He has put together one helluva a class, and he better hope that translates into a productive season. If not, the seat will become very hot.
